We're gearing up for two great weekends of music presented by freakout records. To get our hearts warmed with love and rage, we asked the participating bands about what makes them tick, how to make 'em fall in love, and more. What song comes to mind when you think of love and hate?
Seattle from the Water Bikes on the Boat. The ferry from Bremerton, Washington, dropped us off in Seattle Friday afternoon. Fortunately for us, Chris has hospitable friends in various towns in Washington.
As a Capitol Hill resident I spent a good chunk of the weekend observing the belated launch of the First Hill Streetcar, both actively as a rider and passively as a nearby pedestrian. Here are a few things that I noticed:. Outside of peak, the streetcar moves pretty well on both Jackson and Broadway.
Keith, Catherine and I got on our bikes around 7 am and headed North. There were a couple large groups of riders meeting at the same time. I went over to use the restroom, Catherine did too, and when we came out, the Rocket Ride had already departed. Keith had waited and I did a little time trial to catch us back up.
I plucked the following info straight from the Point 83 website. The end of February is coming up soon. The FHR is on us.
If that date and location sound familiar, that's because Cascade—a 10,member-plus group that lobbies for cycling infrastructure and hosts rides and classes—holds its own ride, the long-established Chilly Hilly, at that exact time and location. If the stereotypical Cascade member is a white guy in Spandex who drives his bike to club events in his Subaru, the stereotypical Point83 member is a beer-swilling dude on a custom-built fixed-gear with an axe to grind against weekend warriors. The Point83 riders say they aren't trying to screw with Cascade's ride.
I'd heard about ' the zoo ' climb before, but had no idea where it was - but lo and behold, somebody saved the route on my site, veloroutes. The climb is 2. This is about twice as big as Tolt Hill Roadwhich used to be the best or worst, depending on how you feel about climbing local climb I knew about.
Both cities have more than ten bicycle shops. Both have a sharp business dude importing European bikes and selling them for a huge markup. Paul, Louisville, St. Sorry, Austin.
It's an obvious fit—we here at PubliCola love everything about biking, from policy to weekend rides to racing events. BikeNerd will cover all of that and more. Today, he kicks off his weekly column with a piece about last weekend's mile Spring Fever Populaire.
On Friday, Rage Against the Machine changed their official reaction to a Washington state sheriff's attempt to ban one of their concerts from a stony "No comment" to a virulent "Fuck Tha Police! On Friday, he made good on that promise, stepping up police security at the show from 12 to 50 officers, and arresting 80 people by the wee hours of Saturday, mostly for underage drinking and drug possession. No one was charged with disorderly conduct. There ain't nothing more frightening than a pig with political aspirations.
